Voss Family History

The Alamo, San Antonio, Texas

The Voss family has carried on the tradition of fine metal craftsmanship for four generations. My great-grandfather, Theo Voss, was commissioned to do the metalwork at the Alamo. In 1905, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas began the Alamo restoration project in an effort to memorialize the brave defenders and rich heritage of the site. Theo Voss was contacted because of his reputation for superior craftsmanship. The grand chandeliers, as well as the metal work on the front doors, wrought-iron gates, and light fixtures were crafted by Voss and have been admired by visitors to the Alamo for over a century.
